FSU vs. UF rivalry game might not happen this year – 247Sports

During a meeting on Thursday, SEC presidents approved a 10-game conference only schedule, beginning on Sept. 26.

This means the annual Florida-Florida State game is not going to happen this year if this decision holds true.  It would mark the first time the two in-state rivals have not played since 1957.

FSU and UF faced off for the first time in 1958.  Since then they’ve played every year, in two seasons the teams actually played twice, that was back in 1994 and 1996.

UF leads the overall series with a record of 36-26-2.

FSU has not released an official statement on the potential cancelation of the game.  As of now it looks like there just isn’t room on the schedule for the game to be played this season.
